Jorginho Reveals Mikel Arteta Twice Tried to Sign Him for Arsenal
Jorginho has revealed that Mikel Arteta tried to sign him for Arsenal on two separate occasions, but the Italian midfielder ultimately decided to stay at Chelsea.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Jorginho said that Arteta first approached him about a move to Arsenal in 2020, when the Spaniard was still in charge of Manchester City.
“Mikel came to me and said, ‘I want you to come to Arsenal,’” Jorginho said. “‘I think you can be a really good player for us.’
“I was flattered, but I was happy at Chelsea and I didn’t want to leave.”
Arteta then tried to sign Jorginho again in the summer of 2022, after he had been appointed as Arsenal manager.
“I spoke with Mikel again and I told him that I was happy at Chelsea,” Jorginho said.
“I’m not going to lie, I was tempted to go to Arsenal.
